San Diego Sugar | Mango Mochi San Francisco

One of my favorite things about San Diego (aside from the palm trees, beaches, and cheap Mexican food) is its proximity to San Francisco. Hop in a plane and you can be there in about 2 hours (including baggage pick-up and BART). On a recent four-day binge vacation full of discovery, eating, and lots of walking up hills we sampled some truly spectacular sweets. Here are some of my favorites:

San Diego Sugar | Snow Bubble Yogurt Frost Drinks from Tapioca Express

After spending the morning shopping and stuffing myself with salt and pepper chicken wings from Golden Chopsticks, I faced a tough decision: soft serve or bubble tea. After debating the merits of both, it was this review of Tapicoa Express that won me over. Taking Jenn’s suggestion, I went straight for the mango snow bubble, while my faithful companion got a strawberry mango yogurt frost.

Given the choice between chocolate chip, peanut butter, ginger, and oatmeal cookies, you might be surprised to see an essentially colorless lump of baked dough featured for Influx Cafe. But to write off the tastiness of this cookie based on appearance alone would be a shame.
